Would I benefit by upgrading my CPU to a higher market ryzen processor ? I use my PC for browsing the web and light gaming....
Its lightening fast already to be fair
It has to be AM4

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2400G CPU
Motherboard: Gigabyte A320 M-H
Ram: 2 x 8GB of HyperX Fury DDR4
SSD/HDD: SSD 120GB, HDD 1TB
GPU: RadeonRX 580
PSU: Cooler Master MasterWatt Lite 500W 80 Plus
Chassis: Fractal Design

Had a quick look in my case and the heatsink fan covers the four screws which hold the heatsink in a little bit.

How does your current rig perform?
What FPS do you get?
Is any part of the system a bottle neck?
You already have a decent system, unless you need more power and your being bottle necked, I wouldn't bother.

This. I would check if during games the CPU is at 100% usage? If not, don't bother. Other issue would be HDD, but you're using a SSD...

I like the look of the AMD Ryzen 5 3600

I'll test out the CPU usage later, whats the best way to check it during a game ?

Just need a CPU to bottleneck the Radeon 580. I think thats why Venomx is giving the opinion of the 3600. Your motherboard does support it. https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-A320M-H-rev-11/support#support-cpu
You may need a USB stick to upgrade the BIOS for Ryzen 3000 support. Your motherboard needs version F40 or higher. F42 is the latest and you need to follow the update process. You should be okay as you are a Raven Ridge CPU. F42 is needed for Destiny 2 gaming compatibility.

Ryzen 3600 is about £180 on overclockers, so is cheaper than the screen shot.
The 2700x at £210.
The 2600 is £150.
The 2600x is £200.

Really the games you are playing are not that demanding. CS GO and Wireframe (https://warframe.fandom.com/wiki/System_Requirements) are okay I guess. Formula 1 a 2600x CPU https://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=35901&game=F1 2019. Dirt Rally looks okay, https://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=4320&game=Dirt Rally

I've upgraded to bios version F40, this should be ok right ?
I dont want to go to F42 as it says

Due to AGESA 1.0.0.3 ABB, PCIe Gen4 support has removed when using a 3rd Gen Ryzen (Matisse) CPU

F42 is needed for Destiny 2 gaming compatibility. If you don't play Destiny 2 its not a big deal. Maybe Venomx can give you some help later on.

Ok got F41 all loaded ready for my new CPU

IF I want F42 it says

Does that mean the PCI slot that the wireless lan goes into won't work ?

Not how I read it.

I take that to mean that the slot will only work at pcie gen 3, and the possibility of it working at pcie gen 4 is disabled.

The 3000 series (Matisse) CPUs have the ability to support pcie gen 4. So if fitted to a motherboard that supports pcie gen 4, then the combination would work at gen 4.

When Matisse was released, it was suggested that it would be possible for an older motherboard that was designed originally to work as pcie gen 3 could support pcie gen 4 if a Matisse CPU was placed in it because it is the CPU itself that is running the pcie lanes and the motherboard is basically only supplying copper connections to the slots. Gen 4 could in theory be enabled just through a bios update.

That suggestion has been retracted a bit and bioses are now being kept at their original design spec. So if your board supports gen 3, and you fit a CPU that can in theory work up to gen 4, it will default to the lowest common setting, which is gen 3.

It's a bit like how networking cable is these days. Cat5e cable is designed for upto 1gb speeds . (Like your gen 3 board ).. But it is possible to use it for 10gbit speeds if the devices at each end are 10gbit. (Like fitting a Matisse CPU and a gen4 GPU card into a gen 3 motherboard) if that makes any sense ?

Either way, the CPU and WiFi card should work just fine.

.

When you say slot which slot do you mean ?
I seen what destiny 2 looks like and might be interested to play

Got an RX 580 GPU

Ok mate thanks.

I'm on F41 now so my new CPU will work. No point in upgrading to F42 unless I play " destiny " right ?

Would appear to be the major feature of that BIOS update. There could be notes in the zip files with the update that is more illuminating on the subject.

Installed my Ryzen 5 3600 now no problems

It didn't come with a back plate which was confusing, i had to use the one which came with myy PC

My 2400 used to idle around 30 degree and my 3600 now idles around 40, is this ok ?

Zen 2 idles pretty high it seems. How are load temps?

Getting about 39 idle.
65 maximum on CS GO and on DiRT Ralley game

Reason im asking is because its hotter than my 2400g was ( probably because my new one has two extra cores ) and i did smudge a tiny tiny bit of the paste on my finger when installing
