going to fit a new cpu to my pc. Do I have to reinstall all software or is it ok to leave it and just fit the cpu?

Nope just fit your CPU, just double check your BIOS revision excepts your new CPU.

What about your settings in BIOS if you're currently OCing, do you need to do anything with them before upgrading the CPU?

Then you will be better to set defaults then fit the new CPU then overclock again from there.

Any reason to do this as opposed to just a "reset bios to defaults?" at boot.

I mean just hit F9 (or whatever) at boot rather than fiddle with jumper resets or prising the battery out for a minute and engaging in prayer?
