Just walking back from Tesco on my break and I spotted and new Civic in black but it had all the red badges on, inclusing the red H. Odd I thought, didn't realise it was out so soon. But It was driving away rather swiftly.

It did look rather nice with the Type-R kit on, and on the side it had the local Honda dealers sticker.

According to http://www.redh.co.uk/ it seems that some dealers have the new CTR in the showrooms for people to play with. I might go have a nosey as the small town of Clitheroe only has a small Honda dealer, wouldn't have thought it would be of interest round here.

It didn't have much sound presense, but IIRC they only have the same engine as the top of the range normal Civic with a few tweaks, is that right? Or is that old speculation?

I might see if I can blag a test drive. I really do like the look personally and I know one of the other honda franchise owners too round here too :D

It has the previous type-r engine with some tweaks so it goes into vtec earlier in the rev range. Probably quite nice to drive & a nice place to be but not as raw an experience as the previous type-r, it's kind of a watered down version.

The current CTR is like the Golf GTI - it's just a badge for their top-of-the-line.

No one nowadays really wants a stripped out track car, so they've got to cater for the masses unfortunately.

If you see it as that, and not like the old Type R's, then it'll be fine :)

They did sell a lot of EP3's, we will have to wait and see if the masses respond to the new FN2 in the same way. I got a feeling Honda may have something else up their sleave..

Seen Last Week in Sainsburys/Budgens Carpark in Wotton Bassett (Nr Swindon)... It lives near me in Abbey Meads (in Swindon)... Saw it again This morning!!.

:)

Me wants one!, but the wife don't like 3door cars!! :(

I think i'm one of the only people who can't stand the sight of it. The older model is a million times nicer to look at imo. Wrong shape, odd lights, stupid exhausts... horrid :(

I was in the market to consider buying one of these, although they didn't know for sure if they would make a triptronic one - I suspected not, and I'm glade I didn't wait. I am a fan of the old type-r and I would have gotten one of those if I could drive it.

From the shot that's been posted above it looks too busy at the rear, wierd flip outs at the side of the rear bumper and spoiler in the wrong place for starters. I don't like the fact that the tailgate goes down to below bumper level, so If you have a slight knock from behind then you'll likely need a new tailgate aswell. The whole horizontal light section is not to my liking either - as I said, too much going on. I'd like to have a better shot of the alloys though.

I bought a Golf Mk5 GTI in the end because they did a DSG(automatic) and the power delivery is a lot lower down the rev range, I didn't feel like ragging it just to get a bit of performance. Plus the Golf GTI is, I recon, more inconspicuous than the new type-r.

Fully agree, I love my EP3 to bits but it isn't a proper Type R like the Civic EK9 and Integra DC2, though mine doesn't have AC so mine's arguably more of a Type R:D

Not keen on the FN2 but I do fancy a test drive just to give it a chance.

That spoiler looks daft down there
Matches the rest of the car then :)

Older model? You mean the proper ones or the breadvan?

Type R seems to have changed its meaning and is now used as a replacement for what was Hondas "VTI's"

The EP3's in the uk lacked a LSD although the JDM models had them?

Anyone know if the new type R comes with one?

I do hope the consider releasing a more hardcore version - perhaps the RR.

If the engine was further tweaked to perhaps 220 bhp.
The interior would just need some sound deadening removed with a set of recaros and perhaps some light weight panels.

I work in the Honda production factory in Swindon, We put the new CTR into mass production on the 19th of Jan, making around 500 per week. Up until then, the top 20 senior managers have been driving them around swindon for around 2 months, that or they are driving the new shape CRV around, which will be on sale from 1st March AFAIK.
