Hi there,
Like many others I have invested in the DSLR market and purchased the well established Nikon D50 camera. Having a good few years experience using SLR cameras (35mm film) I know the ropes. However, DSLR is different to film no matter what anyone says. Having a look around for books to help refresh the advanced photographer I came across the Nikon D50 Digital Field Guide by David D. Bush. He goes through everything, menu by menu to actual photography. It is written for advanced users who know exposures/f stops and how it all works but manages to cross the bridge between film and digital, definately worth a read.
I found that the biggest gap was in actually choosing settings to use. For instance the ISO options on the fly, the ability to view the histogram and judge the quality of your photos abd adjust accordingly. Things like this are hard to get to grips when before it took a lot more preperation.
Another book which I have purchased is Digital Cameras for Dummies. It hasnt arrived yet so I cant comment. Hopefully the title isnt too true
.
Anyway, I just thought I would mention it for those who have gone along the same roads as myself.
King.
