Hey there everyone!
I am about to order parts for my new desktop. From the Overclockers store very soon. I am rather new to all this though. So could you guys (the professionals :)) double check to tell me if all these parts will work with each other and if the build is good. Also if there are any parts I may need which I don't have Thanks!

Welcome,

I will be honest, you can do better for you money, and some of the parts are not right.

First, the 8150, isn't too good for gaming, the i5 3570k surpasses it by miles.

The GPU is WAY overprice, even more expensive than the 7950/7850/7870 (which is your best option.

The PSU is over specced and the CPU cooler and case are under specced.

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI HD 7870 Twin Frozr III OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card w/ Nexuiz, Sleeping Dogs & Dirt Showdown PC Games £199.99
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - OEM £179.99
1 x Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £81.98
1 x Corsair Builder Series CX 500W V2 '80 Plus' Power Supply (CMPSU-500CXUKV2) £49.99
1 x Toshiba (7K1000.D) 500GB SATA 6GB/s 32MB Cache - OEM (DT01ACA050) £46.99
1 x Xigmatek Pantheon Mid Tower Case - Black £35.99
1 x GeIL EVO Leggera 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (GEL38GB1600C9DC) £31.19

Hmm. Alright thanks for the prosessor and gpu ideas! My friends however told me to stick with a 750w psu to be safe. But may I ask what's wrong witht he case? It comes with a massive side fan, along with a back fan? Thanks

Nice build, I am no expert but a few points to consider:

- I have the same power supply and very pleased with it, for that build you will not need a PSU as high as 750W.

- I am not sure you will really need a sound card too, others might have more information on this.

- You might want to consider a DVD with lightscribe (if you need it)

- Is 500 GB going to be enough for you over the next few years or so? For a little more you could get a 1TB. Also you might want to consider an SSD.

Good luck!

An average system, like the one specced above will use about 350W Maxiumum. This is at full load. PC's don't reached that often atall.

a 500W psu is fine.

The construction of the case, the airflow and cable management are not great atall.

Thanks! Although I won't be needing Windows 7. I have a new disk already.
Just looking at the processor and gpu now. Can I get an upgrade on either of those now since I don't need windows 7?

The 3570K is the better chip as explained above.

Also the retail CPU has a 3 year warranty (OEM has 1 year), proper box and includes a stock intel heatsink, these items should and will help its resale value later on.

Well this is so almost perfect! But do you think you could find a slightly more badass case which is just as good for the same price?

No USB3.0 port at the front, the interior is unpainted, also the cable management looks poor.

The cooling isnt great, no roof fan mount or holes and a rear 92mm fan instead of a nice big 120mm.
