Yes you read that right, if you restart steam you'll notice a new beta version to try. Adds acheivements... :rolleyes:

a new map and some other bits and pieces.

Fun for about 10 mins, pity they let it go for over a year with no updates and the game just got amazingly boring.

tried playing a few maps but it kept 'stop responding' on me when loading them so i gave up and played the original

DoD: Source is probably the worst conversion valve did. Sloppy and boringcompared to the original.

So acheivements and a new map, about 2 years since the last update. Not enough.

Dod's never been the same since they changed the Garand to 2 shots a kill. Theres the clan pros out there who've mastered it but I still love that KAR.

I dunno if its the game got boring or the ww2 fad died out, i LOVED this game in its original beta forms up untill the retail version. Maps like Hill, seg 3 caen, oslo etc were all fun as hell to play on.

Then they started pratting about with things, caen got royally screwed over and all their "enhancements" that were meant to make the map better resulted in just more hiding places for people to camp out in. Having brits vs germans on it was a retarded idea as it just turned into a kar vs enfield camping railgun fest, screw historical accuracy it was more fun with americans vs germans.

Just seemed the more it evolved the more stale it got.

Last time i really played it properly was about a year ago, got into a phase of playing it for 2 weeks then got bored again and havn't really touched it since.

It really needs something new to make it better, i dont think adding acheivements is the way to go as it got annoying enough with tf2 having 3 medics healing each other and ignoring everyone else or just servers full of nothing but medics tarding around.

Sad how much epeen affects gaming online. =/
