I've got a now prehistoric 'SB Live Value' card and though I find it a bit better than my boards onboard sound-chip I was having some issues, like hiss and crackling..also some games would crash with what seemed like sound problems.
I checked the Creative site only to be told my card is not supported (not too supprised) and the last drivers dated back to 2003. So I took a gamble and DLed the latest 'Audigy' drivers (11/06)..I had to unpack them and install from the driver file, rather than the exe, but all went well and now I have a card with FAR better sound and so far no issues.
Has anyone else done this?..and if the drivers do work throughout the range, why don't they make them officially available, after all nvidia can offer support across their range....so?.
Anyway it may all go horribly wrong next time I boot or something, but for now I'm glad I chanced my arm.
