New dual monitors HDMI + DVI problems

Hi all, just completed a new build! In fact my first ever build and I am extremely happy with it. In celebration, I purchased a second monitor which is exactly the same model as my first. So now I have two Acer S240HLbid 24'' Monitors.

With my new build came a new GPU:

My first monitor had always been connected to my laptop via HDMI to HDMI, and so I did the same thing this time and did HDMI to HDMI for the first monitor - which has been working fine with no problems. So today, my second monitor arrives with a DVI to HDMI cable that I had also ordered. Now, I excitedly plug everything in, DVI to the computer and HDMI to the second monitor, and when I turn the PC on, the second monitor now seems to be displaying a slightly grainy, smaller image.

What I mean by this, is that there is a 1 inch strip of black screen all around the picture on the second monitor and the picture is not quite to the same quality as the first monitor.

I have tried everything that I know to do, as in going to Control Panel and adjusting my screen resolutions etc, and nothing as of yet has worked!

Could any of you shed any light as to what could be going on and how to solve it?

Thanks!

Have you gone through the menus on the second monitor? You should be able to stretch it to fit.

Are both of the monitors the same make and resolution?

I have gone through the menus and both of the monitors have exactly the same settings, should I be going DVI to DVI rather than DVI to HDMI?

Thanks

If it's an AMD card (link not working) you need to change the overscan setting in the CCC to 0%.

If you can go DVI to DVI that will work as well as you won't have scaling problems.
