hi there, so im busing putting together a new rig. Been on consoles for a few years and now moving back to PC....

im looking for a high level monitor (top tier, budget about £2k but flexible) that will be used for work during the day = emails , excel, word , web browsing and gaming at night = big variety of games from strat games to shoothers and everything in between. graphics on max with a top lvl rig i hop.e

Can anyone guide me ot some reives , articles , threads on where to start. Ive not been in the pc game for many years so clueless now. Even on sizes im reading bigger not better and 27 the way to go?

many thanks to all.

If you're not after the highest possible frame rates/don't play competitive reflex shooters that budget would give up to higher end 4K options.
Though that high end choise is awfully short with lack of mini-LED FALD in monitors, no matter the resolution.
Pretty much we've only recently gotten any such local dimming 4K monitors.

CoolerMaster Tempest GP27U is one of them.
Though unless you have limited space/small table and short viewing distance, 27" is small for 3840x2160 pixels.

Still about only 32" model is Acer X32 FP.
Just got one in package (shipping was delayed by strike) here to replace my 9+ years old Dell U3014.
Acer still has some work in firmware at least in removing overdrive mode lock from VRR, but who knows if there's other 32" choise this year.
Also unlike in 27" panel, there's A-TW polarizer like filter to minimize IPS glow, which is weakness in normal IPS.

27" monitor would need to be 16% closer to show in same size.
Which besides needing eyes to focus closer would make leaning back in chair affect apparent size more than with 32".

"Life" disturbing hobbies... and darn northern lights doing same for lunar observing.
(good thing happened to took day off for today, would have been 2½h sleep)

Will swap monitor monitor today, but darn that box is bulky/fat to move through doors/stairs with mount attached at factory.

Haven't noticed any dead/stuck pixels yet in any test and uniformity seems pretty good.
And 2560x1600 wasn't any slouch, but text sharpness is major amount improved.

Definitely nice to not have IPS glow.
It's actually toward the opposite with dimming down in corners with white screen just where you would have glow in black.
And local dimming helps very nicely with contrast limit of IPS.
That and higher brightness makes SDR content look much more alive.

Menu/profile system just would appear to be in need of major improvement, so that you could easily have and adjust different modes for different uses.
Now many settings of profiles seem to be locked, or if you change one it suddenly overrides user profile with that adjustment.

where did you buy yours. Im thinking of getting it once i hear more feedback from you . ;)
Not sure if UK even has this by the looks of things no...
There's actually some stock here in Finland.
Curiously in webshops of two mobile phone/internet operators.
Though PC hardware shop owned by OcUK's parent company has it available from wholesaler.
And Danish company running PC hardware webshops for many EU countries also has stock.
