Hey guys I am bowing down to your great collective knowledge :D putting together a new system for my grandad and he uses clone dvd a LOT and wanted something that would do a movie faster then the 3 hours his old cpu is doing it in so I have put together a e6600 core 2 duo with a asrock mobo on board vga and 2gb of ram running vista its up and running nps with just clone dvd installed but when I try to backup a dvd for him its going to take 40-50 mins wheres my e6300 will do it in about 25-30 mins now bearing in mind both cpus are running at stocks values his should knock the snot out of my "baby core" ;) I have made sure that that the mobo thermal throttling is switched off and as far as I can see both pcs are setup as close as they can be. One thing I did notice is my cpu will use about 30% when running clone dvd but vista reports only about 6-10% on his now this can not be right surly?
so any one got any ideas
Cheers for any help

hey thanks for the reply
both cores are recognized by windows
His mobo is a asrock ConRoe1333-DVI/H mine is a Asus P5N-E
both run GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C5 800MHz for the ram and all of his chipset drivers are working
So should his be that much slower then mine? does the mobo make that much of a differance?
Thanks for any help

hi
the dvd drive and hardrive our on the same ide channel on my grandads where my hard drive is sata and the dvd drive is ide I am going to try the drive on a different channel and see how that goes
I am just surprised by how much slower his cpu is then mine where are talking 10-20mins
Cheers

ok so as it turns out it was the hard drive and dvd drive being on the same channel that was slowing it down I was surprised by just how big a difference that makes :p so i have convenced him to get a sata drive and its flying along now
cheers for all the help guys
