New employment - Tax question

I've recently started a new job and today I received a tax code for both my new employer and my old employer.

Should I contact the tax office directly or should I contact my old employer and have them sort it out with the tax office?

Why would your old employer care about your taxes seeing as you are not employed with them anymore?

Just contact the tax people directly and sort out whatever it is you think needs sorting.

If it is a PAYE notice of coding then you only need do anything if you think its wrong.

What are the codes? Could hmrc think you currently now have two jobs?

Rang the tax office today. Turns out there was an overlap between my old employer notifying the tax office I no longer work there and them issuing the tax codes so it's all been sorted.
