Probably like telling my granny to suck eggs, but are you getting sufficiently on the turbo so that when you change gear it still drops it onto the turbo?
My mondeo gets worse fuel economy if I change gear at 2k rpm than if i hold it to 2200 to 2300 rpm, as when you change it has dropped off the turbo, you press the throttle harder to accelerate, and it just dumps excess fuel into the exhaust, which comes out as a comedy james bond style smoke screen.
