New Engine

My Parents car needs a new engine for a Golf 4 motion, yeah I know they should buy a new car because it's cheaper but apparently it's the only car that won't give them back ache.

Soo are there any recommendations for a garage that can sort out the engine.

Incidentally it was ruined when it went down a pothole and the oil leaked out ant the engine seized up.

The UK is a fairly big place.....you'll need to give a clue with regards to location

If it were me - eBay a used engine. Use local village garage for fitting. Anywhere will be able to fit it.

Scrappy for a donor car that has been rear ended? As said a local good garage will save you some money.

Munros garage is excellent, they have done similar work before. Postcode is KW15 1GR.

I have used PT Auto Repairs and I think their service is better. Their postcode is TR20 8TL.

You may be able to claim form the council for the damage. Google it.

was there a yellow box around the pot hole?

They messed me around last time, I ended up going to Harding R C & Son at TR19 6PP to sort it out.

Would it not be easier to just claim on your insurance and either get it repaired properly or have it written off and buy a replacement?

Cheap enough engine to pick up try some of the dub forums like vw vortex there's always a few up for sale

Claim off insurance... will probably be written off... get new car of the same type and save yourself the hassle...?!

Claim on insurance, buy back written off car for buttons, swap uber wonderful non back breaking seats from old scrap car into replacement car, assuming, of course, you don't discover replacement car has identical seats to old one.

Sell written off car.

I'd far rather a car thats had an interior swap than an engine swap tbh.

I feel your pain that ageing parentals can be stubborn as old nails, but personally i would try and work them down on this because it simply isnt true.

Are the seats not the general recaros usually found in the mk4 of that era?

They are Recaros but I don't think you can put them in another car very easy but I'd like to know which car they can be transferred to.

The front seats should be a straight swap to any mk4 Golf platformed car, Leon, Bora etc
