New Exhaust problem. (Overrun)

I just got the middle and back section replaced on my 307 2.0L Petrol as they where nakard with an Oem equivalent exhaust the problem i am having is that when revved hard out of gear i get popping and bangs. Bear in mind this is a 307 with Cat still installed.

Do you think this is just because the exhaust has been installed or possibly normal for the replacement exhaust.

This only happens when you rev had when not in gear and release the accelerator.

I don’t want to go back to the garage and make a fool of myself if its not justified.

Could just be becuase its still new tbh. Leave it for a few miles then re-assess

My 306 gti6 with a blueflame stainless system fitted pops a bit too. Even during the MOT the other day on the fast idle test it was popping a little now and then.

overun pops and bangs are normal if the exhaust is even a tiny bit more free flowing... i think

When I got a new exhaust fitted on my car, it was a lot louder, and had pops and bangs all over the place.

It quietened down after a couple of weeks.

Sounds as if this is normal then.

Why the hell are you reving it hard out of gear? Do you want to knacker your car?
