New Extreme PC Spec Please

And about the ivybridge, I'm fairly sure there isn't much difference between those and the sandybridge processors except for greater internal graphics support. If you have a dedicated GPU then i'd stick with sandybridge purely because they should be cheaper. I maybe wrong! but this is how I see it anyway.

Im going to be buying it all in parts anyway, and i already have a watercooling loop,

whats going to be better, heres my options

Intel Core i7 3820
i5 3570k
i7-3930K
or an old 980/990x that i can pick up of fleabay for dirt cheap.

Motherboard shouldnt really matter as they are all so similar in price,

Ideas?

If you're going to buy a 3820, you may as well purchase the 3930k. However, seeing as you're only using your system primarily for gaming, a 3570k is suffice. A 3930k is extremely overkill seeing as games don't utilize most cores. Although saying that, I myself personally own a Rampage Iv Forumla and 3930k and I wouldn't go back simply due to the aesthetics and performance over other chips.

I think that the i5 would handle more than what you could throw at it, gaming wise anyway, for a long time.
In regards to the motherboard, they are all similar in price, but I hope you aren't planning to go cheap on the motherboard? A good quality motherboard provides a good overclocking foundation, a dirt cheap motherboard, not so much xD
