New fan for 8600GT??

Hey,

I have an XFX 8600GT and was just wondering what cooler would be the best for my card? Ive looked around but i dont know which ones would suit my graphics card, if any at all.

Hmm, the reason being its really loud, sounds like the fan is spining as fast as it can all the time (from bootup), so much so if i stand at the bottom of my stairs I can still just about hear it!! So was just wondering is there was any chance of a "quieter fan" or a fanless cooler. Possibly something that would allow me to overclock too

If you dont mind selling off your current card, you could always go for a 3850, its faster than the 8600GT by a fair way so you wouldnt need to overclock for some more performance, and is meant to be quiet and cool to run.

Sorry my knowledge of 8600 fan options isnt really any good, but thats one alternative you could think about, given the card's current price, you're probably only going to pay about as much as you'd pay for 1/2 aftermarket fan kits after you've sold your current kit anyway, and it hits a lot of good notes

Seeing as though im kinda low on money (Christmas and all that) I did manage to find 2 fans/coolers that hopefully anybody else on here can tell me which fits the card and which is the better -
1 - Zalman VF900
2 - Arctic cooling NV6

Ive got Zalman cpu and gpu coolers in my machine and im nothing but delighted with them. look great, sound great, fan controller included and they stay cool!!!

Zalman are very good in general, it must be said. Not always the best performing or cheapest, but nearly always effective and pretty quiet.

accelero S1 rev2 shoudl do the trick and it can run passive on that card too with no chance of overheat.
