Hi, i bought a brand new Akasa Apache black fan just a day ago and just recived it and for some reason it aint working straight from the box. I tried all other sockets and tried using other fans that work perfectly. Everytime the pc swithces on it just ticks as if there is not enough power and switches off. Any suggestions ? :(

Tried unplugging other fans and just using the one fan in a known working socket with PWM/Voltage control disabled? The Apache might just have a higher starting voltage than the others.

Sounds like a dead fan to me.

ok thanks for all the help...Was excited to test the corsair push / pull config on the H60 cooler now i got to use a single fan lol :( Thanks anyway il giv them a call monday!

I was using apache with the corsair fan that was provided but i did hear it was recommended to use identical fans, but would that even make a slight difference in temps?

I think the apache does take a higher starting voltage, I've just been playing around with my Apache attaching it to the fan controller on the Corsair 600t case. The fan wouldn't even start until the dial was 3/4 the way round, and it didn't get up to any decent speed until right near the full setting.
I decided to take it out and replace it with the 120mm fan which came with the case instead.
I am thinking about using the Apache on the H60 radiator for push pull, but like we've said, it isn't recommended to use 2 different fans so I dunno....

I agree it does take a higher voltage to get them going than normal fans. I think it's to do with them being designed as PWM fans. PWM uses the full voltage constantly it just switches it on and off very quickly, so it doesn't really matter what the starting voltage is. And they assume most people who don't use the PWM will run it straight off a three pin MB power header at full throttle.

right power up with case open and flick fan round this is what i do to mine when it occasionally stops or put it in sys fan header and change settings in bios so it runs at full all the time hope this works

ok il try that, but i was just looking around the fourm and found this :
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?p=18577403
it says how its common with this fan to not beable to run off the moberboard due to the connectors on the motherboard being 5v or something?

Then they suggest to buying http://overclockers.co.uk/showproduc...odid=CB-031-AK

This worked for most people...that might be the problem :D
