New fan types on 8800GT's

Ive seen two types of new fan on the 8800GT's. One is like the original fans but biger and looks like that have taken all the plastic off and plonked a huge heat sink and fan ontop.
Are both these types of fan better than the original?

the bigger fan is quieter than the original, the other cooler is not a stock one and is fitted by the nvidia partners. this will cool a lot better than the stock cooler

Do we know which partners are fitting which fans?
I know i could go to a show room shop and get them checked before i buy, but its not so easy if i buy off OcUk.

I know LeadTek, and i think Zotac fit the bigger fan on theirs, and Asus GT's all come with these ones now :- http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17816165&highlight=asus , can't say on the others.
