New fan? (Video included)

My laptop (Acer Aspire 5633WLMI) has a few problems, the main one being that it overheats and secondly the fact that the battery lasts a whopping 8 minutes max

It's served me well over 2 years now but i need to get it fixed.

Looking on the bay, a new fan is about £20 from Hong Kong.

Just want to make sure that it's the fan so i made a video of the fan spinning and how quickly it stops. I'm hoping you'll agree that it shouldn't be like this.

I tried greasing up the bearing but it's still the same.

have you tried using a program to see how fast your fast spins or not spins, everest or something similar?

The laptop has no OS on it, was tryin to install XP but it keeps overheating during install.

So can't do that, and bios has no temp monitoring.

Try a bit of home engineering, use a case fan from a PC to cool it down during Windows installation by keeping the laptop temperature down a bit.

They do this by nature i think, something to do with the magnetic motor mechanism, as its slowing there not enough energy to spin and the magnets just stop it dead.
