new fans to replace fan on the A50

A better option would be to put 2 fans (one either side) in push/pull on the heatsink. Much how the A70 is setup.

Replacement fans, popular choices as usual are:

Vipers:- http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-059-AK
Apache:- http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-057-AK&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=4
GT 1850:- http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-030-SY&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=4

can you put one ethier side because it only has a mount on one side unless i bodge one on with cable ties :P

I'm not 100% but I was under the impression the heatsinks on the A50 and A70 was exactly the same, the only difference being the A70 has the extra fan. You could buy an extra fan holder, I'm sure its something corsair would cater for.

i wish they where but looking at videos on utube the a70 is slighlt longer with 4 heat pipes (a50 only has 3)

but i will buy a typhoon or the viper for it. might buy both and see wich is best and use the spare as an extra case fan :) (gonna try and get a few more post first £2.50 for delivery of a couple of fans is a lot)

thanks for the help

Is there no further tweaking you can do? Did you get them heatpipe grooves well filled? Maybe tweak the v-core back a little once you are up at 4.6Ghz?

I have a similar system & get mid 60s after a long run in prime, yet to go over 60c when gaming. Doesn't sound too bad the way you have things anyway.

i have tried 4.6 @1.325v and it hit 72 on prime after about an hour so i decided to turn it off and tryed lowring the voltage to 1.31 and it just causes instability. i might try reseating the cooler with some fresh paste tommorow see if that helps :)

To be honest those temps sound about right, remember your using a ~£25 cooler, you shouldn't expect much more than that.

On my old FP13 (similar performance range to the A50) I hit mid 70's under load at 4.6ghz, voltages at auto, so yours sound about right.

Better cooling = better cooler.
