I have within the last week upgraded to Fibre BB and do not like the rubbish router Plusnet sent me.

What i need from the router is
4 gigabit Lan ports
Wifi Wireless n (has to be a strong signal due to house construction of Solid Walls)
The ability to manage the connections of my kids wifi devices between certain times of the day with rules i can setup for the school week and a seperate one for the weekend. i.e. enable rules and forget about them

I have the new bt openreach modem ( not sure how good it is)
budget wise im looking to get one for as little money as humanly possible if i had to put a max limit on it id say £100

TD-W9980

Does sky fibre/ADSL etc - 4 gigabit ports, wireless N, 2.4 and 5ghz. You can set times/limits/mac address etc for each connecting device - £60.

Does me great for a busy house etc

Ive spied this ASUS DSL-N66U Dual-Band Wireless-N 900 VDSL/ADSL Modem Gigabit Router advertised on a competing website for £80 wont post link.
Looking at it it would appear to be the same as the Asus RT-N66U with the addition of an inbuilt adsl/Vdsl modem
bonus is they appear to have it in stock so if purchased i could have it within a few days.
Out of this one ASUS DSL-N66U Dual-Band Wireless-N 900 VDSL/ADSL Modem Gigabit Router and this one TP-Link N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit VDSL2/ADSL2+ Modem Router (TD-W9980)
which would you say was the better router, remmbering that i wish to be able to switch off either certain wifi connections or devices automatically by time of day and day of the week.

Well after a lot of youtube vids etc i liked the admin options of the Asus router modem and have plumbed for ASUS DSL-N66U Dual-Band Wireless-N 900 VDSL/ADSL Modem Gigabit Router.

i have also found and ordered a RJ-11 to RJ-45 Cat5e cable as well

Now all i need is for Plusnet to pull their finger out sort the fault on thier system which is limiting my speed to 21Mb :( have bt reset the SNR values back to normal and allow the line to find its own stable rate rather then the Artificially dropped rate im getting at present.
So far ive lost 10Mb from the IP config of the line due to i presume BT increasing the value of the SNR of the line believing the line to be unstable due to a fault at Plusnet

It can take 3 days for the rate to stabilise. Be patient.

My rate was 60Mb down and 15Mb up stable for 4 days prior to the fault occuring.
Accidentally switching off the power supply to your computer system should not result in such a dramtic loss of bandwidth.
also when using the BT Tester and doing Test 3 using thier login details the speeds go to just a few Mb under the current ip config of the line which now sits at 52.18 Mb down and approx 2Mb up
