Had my line regraded to fibre this morning and this is my speedtest result.

Download is actually slower than previous connection.

Provider is Eclipse and the router is a Draytek 2925n.

Any ideas what might be causing this? BT engineer said he checked the sync speed before leaving and he said it was 69mb from the socket.

Router has been factory reset.

Have tried a different router with same results.

I did ask if the modem could be plugged directly into the PC and the guy said no. I'll do that too and see if it sheds any light on what is going on.

Least I know its not the connection if he got 69mb. Just need to work out what might be playing up.

Does it take time for the line to settle down? Or is it the case that if the engineer got 69mb then so should everything else.

You can definitely connect directly to the OR supplied modem (assuming they supplied you with one). You then configure Windows with the PPPoE settings. There are online guides if you look.

You should have the correct speed from day one. If anything it'll slow down as it settles in.

Any chance the PC has third-party security software that could be causing the problem?

Which exchange is this? :o

Is it the one near the castle car park?

I live 80 meters from it, currently on ~20mbit adsl2

It's cab 7 according to bt wholesale website. I live on Pembroke Road near the bridge. Client of mine lives round the corner on same cab getting 68mb.

If the engineer tested the sync at 69 should I not get that? I tried again about an hour ago and it was 22mb. Hopefully it will go up over next couple of days. If not I will see if I can get the line reset. Eclipse usually happy to do it.

I tried plugging direct into modem and couldn't get it to work. Modem isn't the easy hack one to view stats.

Bledd I see your black teg quite often.

I've got a new job now, not working from home any more, so I drive it every day.

I know nothing about fibre bb as I've never had it.

If you see some odd dude in a dark audi estate with stickers in the rear window waving at you - its me :)

This is the latest test so I think I'm just going to leave it for a day or two before messing with it.

Out of interest how on earth did you justify Eclipse insane FTTC pricing? I was with them for years and years for ADSL, great service but they seem to have totally lost the plot with regards to pricing on all of their products. I am not massively price sensitive but in the end i just had to ditch them :(

They are expensive compared to others but I get my internet paid for via work so if they use Eclipse, so do I. I did try to raise the issue and suggest a move to Zen but it never happened.

After speaking to Eclipse it turns out the modem has dropped the line over 400 times in the last 24 hours and having plugged a laptop direct to the modem and setup a connection the speed is still the same so a fault has been raised.
