New filtered faceplate not working

Hey guys,

Ordered a ADSL filtered faceplate before Christmas and just got round to fitting it today.

Wired it up with the same 2 cables in the same slots as the original faceplate as far as I can tell.

But the router doesn't want to connect at all in the ADSL socket but strangely works fine through a filter in the phone socket, though it does drop out when the landline is used.

Could it be something simple that I have done wrong or could it possibly be a faulty faceplate?

I use to use the ADSL Nation XTE-2005 filtered faceplate, & if you have the BT NTE-5 faceplate, it's a straight swap, no wiring to do.

Seems a bit messy behind there, the line was only put in the house a month or 2 ago and this is how he left it, lots of wires not being used for anything?

Presumably you have one or more telephone extensions?

The disconnected wires aren't anything unusual.

Is the cable running up the wall the same cable that connects to the faceplate?

The connections should be labelled, where are those wires connected?

I'd try the faceplate with the extension wiring temporarily disconnected as a first step.

Hi sorry for the late reply, been mega busy with other things.

So the cable running up the wall is the main line in. It runs in to the house through the window frame into some sort of white junction box and then down the wall in to the socket.

The Orange wire is connected to '2' and the Blue connected to '5' with the house phone connected to the extension working fine.

I disconnected the wires as suggested with no luck.

I wouldnt expect it to work when plugged into the phone side so that is odd. Either way, it sounds like you have a bad faceplate.

What is the make of it??
