New flat New build

I thought Nvidia had dropped more than 2 way SLI?

Totally right, didn't even realize they pulled out of the enthusiast key program also! I guess two it is.

Parts in my current system of note that I am getting rid of, but OCUK doesn't seem to stock them anymore so I assume they should be replaced

i5 3570k
GTX 670 - really feel this struggles now with some games

Would it be worth looking at 2 way sli on the 1080 if you were looking to budget on 3 1070s down the line anyway. Im sure more drivers will correct performance but a single 1080 can still beat 1070 sli in more than a few AAA titles at the moment.

I would just chuck the 1070 in the 3570k rig and see how you like that before buying a whole new rig. a 3570k is still a fine CPU especially if overclocked.

But hey, its your money.

I didn't go for an i7 purely because this is for gamine for the majority of the time. Also will that PSU be able to handle two GPU's?

Have you made the purchase then, what did you go for?

No I haven't, the next coming weekend, I'm debating a more powerful PSU, will the 750W handle two GPU's? The reason why I'm thinking about it is because I want to be able to play all the new VR stuff coming out. I know it does state recommended power for 1080 is 180w

If you're looking at VR then planning for SLI may not be worth it as its not supported at the moment. Go with the best single GPU you can afford.

Also as I don't think it'd been mentioned what resolution and refresh rate if your monitor?

As previously mentioned your CPU is still good. Is it overclockee at all? I'd just be getting a 1080 and see what you think.

I have my CPU currently OC'd to 4GHZ. Also I need to get a new monitor as my current one is running at 60hz and I have longed for a better one! I definitely like the idea of just opting for a 1080 and putting the sli thoughts to the side.

I do have a couple of questions on these choices though..

why not the i5 6600K? Instead of the i7
and is there any particular reason why I should opt for the hyper Z memory as opposed to the dominator

Though if you guys do really think the i5 3570K is still up to the job I may just go with this, which would be well within my budget, thoughts?
