The Fortress series has gone all Raven (and steel) on us. Yup, you heard me. Steel.

I dont quite know what to make of it. The layout and looks are much improved over the previous Raven (the new Raven also), but appart from the drive cage and pannels whats the difference? Also it looks significantly longer then the FT01, important as part of the attraction was having a normal mid-tower size. Not quite so good looking either IMO.

And a $200 price tag for a mostly steel case...

Yea. I'd draw parallels with Lian-Li's TYR-X2000 case. Huge fans right over the hardware. All have easy to access dust filters too so thats a big plus.

Shame it does not have a black interior (and window).

Why is it steel then?
What possessed them to make it steel when the Raven and Fortress are both Aluminium? Plonkers.
Looks really nice other than that - could do with a bit better cable management like the fortress though.

#5 looks awesome.

There's nothing wrong with steel other than being heavy, it's stronger and dampens vibrations better than aluminium.

Yeah like the steel touch should help with less noise, if this case is gearing up for silence yet amazing cooling looks like there onto a winner... technicaly we dont need 3-4 120 or 140mm fans in a case anymore, why not just good airflow thru out the whole case too cool the hdds/cpu/gpu :)

This might be a winner indeed !

fails compared to the original fortress imo

not sure why SS are so keen on this new 'sideways on' motherboard setup

i think they should release a new watercooling tower

TJ07 MKII is what we all need ;)

Possibly, but hey you cant improve perfection ;)

To me a layout like that makes sense, with everything facing upwards there's no places for pockets of hot air to get trapped. I quite like the look of it too, but being such a long case I don't think it would fit on my desk!

PK!

This definitely solves FT01's weakness in cooling expansion card area (front intake blocked by very restrictive HDD cages) but rest is really mixed bag.
Like that motherboard even being on other side of the case than normally. Also in practise there's three HDD bays with cooling and you can't use lowest 5.25" bay or HDDs won't have any cooling left.

Almost like manufacturers are starting to forget how to do basic features well and are targeting for peculiar designs just for the sake of peculiarity!

TJ07 is hardly perfect, there's hard HDD mounting and main chamber could have better thought airflow instead of short loop in back top corner.

Looks like a good move for the cooling, but they should have kept the black interior and still have it made in Alu, still glad I have my original Fortress! :)

Just use 1 hdd bay leaving you 4 5.25 devices, as they are removable!

I personally would rather have more hdd bays than 5.25 devices, thats why I have done it this way.

I think 7 5.25" bays are plenty :)
