Just heard the news about talk talk releasing free broadband. You pay £11 line rental (same as with bt) and then choose their international calling package (similar to bt option3) and they give you free 2mb broadband. Had a look at the terms and has all the unlimited but fair usage s***. Anyone signed up yet?

Looks liek a good deal, and im looking to move onto in the near future. Not too bothered about P2P stuff but i am bothered about gaming performance and an 18 month contract. Also the fact they state a 40GB cap, but will probably end up lowering it like plusnet to an unusable amount (plusnet went from a 20GB cap to now a 3GB cap).

It seems too good to be true!
I don't like being locked into an 18 month contract to be honest as AOL's 12 month contract was bad enough.

I wonder what sort of speed people will get and also what their customer service is like
I will wait to see what happens and will certainly not be rushing to sign up.

From my point of view i rejoice in the news. Not because i will switch but just because of the pressure it will put on the other suppliers.
I for one was straight on the phone to NTL telling them how i was one of the first on 10meg a real early NTL customer and how i have been loyal and would love to stay loyal but am being now offered a service at a much reduced rate. I want to stay with NTL but they have to move a little on there prices.
I feel this was taken on board as i received a discount on my package for the next 6 months. Only a small one probably less than a tenner a month reduction, i won't know till i get my next bill but still pressure has already been firmly applied.
I asked them about terminating my contract with them and got them to specify that it is 30 days from my phone call and not 30 days from the month day date from the original signing.
All cool and the gang for now and i will give them time to feel the real world pressure before my next phone call asking them to improve there deal to me.
I think it's all good. The more competition the better the prices at consumer end. Suits me sir.

Right now get on the phone to your own supplier and start moaning to get the Net access prices reduced for All.

And when they aren't earning any cash, none of them are going to bother investing any money... and we're stuck with heavily contended 8Mb Max connections for far too long.

Two sides to everything, i think.

Either that or the ISPs tied to BT Centrals go bust trying to match their prices.

Whinging and moaning isn't perfect, especially if you ain't happy with ever-reducing caps ;)

Caps have not been an issue in my case as i am not a big downloader.
The price i pay for my 10meg and TV and phone package plus the longevity of my custom plus the competition should all balance out.
Whinging and moaning you call it, I call it negotiating a better deal for myself.
