But the remotes are not great on these boxes no wifi or bluetooth here.

you have an app though for tablets/phones though ? maybe I dreamt that,
with humax, I use that to control the box(see epg, recordings), for bedroom viewing

The gigablue i have has it own app which does similar inc remote but i rarely use it.
