Hey guys,

I just purchased a replacement front panel for my zalman z9 plus as the audio jack was bust. On the new front panel is the usual usb 2.0 and a few fan controllers. It is made by media dashboard. However the audio connector is only labelled 'audio' so I don't know whether to connect it to the hd audio slot or the AC97??

Thanks guys.

what motherboard?

both are the same sound quality wise,it's just the hdaudio has jack detection, when you plug headphones in it will detect it ect

if you use ac97 then you might have to disable jack detection in windows/realtek sound

The motherboard is an ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 which has both ports. I was just wondering which one this audio cable from the front panel is capable with? Thanks

I just checked your motherboard manual and it only has one hd audio header, not both as you mentioned. But, like all, it supports both. The media dashboard is AC97.
