Hi all,

Just had full fibre installed eventually and have gone with plusnet 500mb. I know speeds vary to start with but using the supplied router im getting around 517down and 72up, using my ASUS AX82U im getting around 460down and 72up, its still decent enough but wondering why the large difference? ping isnt so great at 11 atm on both but understand it may take a while to settle

Assuming you are testing via wired and not WiFi, my guess is, you either have filter or security settings enabled on your Asus that is impacting on the performance vs the router given to you by Plusnet. Regarding the ping, Fibre (not FTTC) shouldn't need to settle. So what you have really should be what you have from then on.

Yeah wired on both, dont recall any security settings on the asus, but i guess it wont harm doing a factory reset on it? I didnt do that before just changed the credentials

Just to confirm, those are the speeds from the Router to the ISP? Not what you are speed testing with online? Because if so, make sure to try a different port first on the Asus router to eliminate the port having developed and issue, and to also try a different cable as well if possible (to eliminate that from having developed an issue unknowingly). If still fine, then do the Factory Reset for it.

Make sure you log into it and make sure you have any settings recorded that you need first before doing a factory reset. But yes, a full factory reset to defaults could eliminate any lingering settings that might be causing the reduced speed.

Reset it and speeds are the same as the plusnet router now which is good, I had some Asus XD5 mesh routers which I cannot for the life of me to get to connect now.......

Edit - Gone back to the Plusnet Router for now, for whatever reason Couldnt get the Asus Nodes to hook upto the Asus Router which is just stupid as they worked before
