So, I need a new system, building it for a friend.
Budget is max 1400.

This is what I came up with at a first try, but I will redo it soon so I will share the basket here.
Any recommendations on which parts to change with better alternatives in the price-range?

Unfortunately the x41 is not compatible with the 340 midi.... Youll have to go x31 with push pullconfig in rear or front or 240/280 RAD in front of the case

Z87? when Z97 is out.

4690? which cant be overclocked like a 4690K can.

cheers stulid.
can you make your recommendation? I just saw you are a master at this.
I have been out of touch with these things for a while...

Add the keyboard, did you need a mouse?

Cheers guys! Don't need a mouse
Guy will most likely play LOL and maybe some FPS somideally wants an IPS with goodish response, rather than a TN with 1ms and 144 hz. Does that make sense? What would you recommend?

Questions:the mobo I choose had that hispeed slot for msata which I understood has superior speed to the normal sata drives/onboard plugs. If that is not the case only one 500 ssd and no 2tb is enough (dude has a nas linked to the router)
Is it not worth getting a gold ps and a better case? So its there for better systems later?

I prefer evga for mobo and video as i know they are solid, but open to others...happy to pay a premium.on the memory, aren't corsairs dominator the best? I know they are expensive....

Can we fit in haswell? Or not worth it yet?

mSATA is dead, its all about m.2 now.

As long as the PSU is quality (the Antec is made by Seasonic) then efficiency ratings are less important.

That Samsung is PLS panel, so nice colours, contrast etc and 1440P for more screen space.

Gigabyte Gaming 7 board has a 4 yr warranty and they have a UK based RMA center.

I have fitted an i7 Devils Canyon CPU which is a tweaked Haswell CPU, 4Ghz base core speed and turbos upto 4.4Ghz!!

The 144Hz screen is ideal for FPS games, but if He is mainly playing other genres then the IPS panel is fine. The one you selected looks ok.

The EVGA psu in my build is one of the best around for price/performance. You get a nice 10 year warranty when you register it. It also has semi passive fan mode.

I personally wouldn't pay the premium for Corsair Dominator Ram.

The i5 4690K is Haswell. It is just a different name (Devils canyon) as it is the refresh cpu.

Guys , thanks! This is great info, I will look in more detail now at what you put in there.
This opened my apetite for a new rig :-)))

A few things.

That cooler, there are decent alternatives for less such as the coolermaster Nepton.

You dont have RAM listed.

The 850 Evo is just as fast.

You have two CPUs listed.
