Hi folks. I am after a bit of advice on a build I have attached a link to below which I hope to be as future proof as can be with the speed technology moves along.
My last system lasted 15 years.....so here I hope this does too;)

I have really lost touch with the latest technology with pcs, so would really appreciate your advice on the build and reccomendations for a new Monitior also.
Feel free to make other suggestions on the parts chosen.

Unsure if he wifi be ok speed etc.
Not sure on all the modern connections, ports, speed of drives and motherboards etc
Unlikely to do much to the system myself, but advice on any future upgradabilty would be good.

I have approx £2400 for the PC build and approx £500 for a new monitor at the same time.

I do various Photography editing (photoshop), Video Editing (hd and now 4K) and a bit of amatuer gaming thrown in.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Then this monitor - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/aoc-...descreen-led-monitor-black-red-mo-046-ao.html

Which has IPS panel for better colours/contrast etc and Gsync for gaming.

The only thing is it is 1440P and not 4K.

That monitor looks good even though not 4K but be a massive improvement on my old one from 15 years ago:) I will check out some reviews and others in the same price bracket.
I see you chose AMD which I didn't even think about to be honest! Meant you maybe could pick improved other parts I guess. It used to be that for editing etc amd was a bit behind but is this not he case anymore?

Yeah I doubt this next set up will last 15 years........but hey I like yours The-Hoff

I would go with the R7 1700 and overclock it. You should be able to get 3.8GHz (Or a bit more depending on the silicon lottery) with the Gigabyte Gaming 5 board and Dark Rock cooler.

No need for an 850W psu unless you plan to SLI. You would be fine with 550W/650W.

If you go with the 1080 ti gpu I would probably try and wait for the aftermarket versions.

Some cheaper options...

£419.99 - AOC AGON AG271QX 27" 2560x1440 TN FREESYNC 144Hz 1ms Gaming Widescreen LED Monitor - Black/Red

£428.99 - Acer Predator XF270HU 27" 2560x1440 IPS FREESYNC 144Hz Gaming Widescreen LED Monitor - Black/Red

£428.99 - Acer Predator XG270HUomidpx 27" 2560x1440 TN FREESYNC 144Hz Gaming Widescreen LED Monitor - Black/Red

£455.99 - BenQ XL2730Z 27" 2560x1440 TN FREESYNC 144Hz Gaming Widescreen LED Monitor - Black/Red

£499.99 - Asus MG278Q ROG Dominator 27" 2560x1440 TN FREESYNC 144Hz Gaming Widescreen LED Slim Bezel Monitor

One is an IPS panel too. You might want to read reviews on the others, their colour reproduction might be okay for your photo/video editing needs.

The key for these screens is they're all 1440p, 144Hz and Freesync, which is all great for gaming. This really is the sweet spot for gaming at the moment.

These are Freesync monitors though, so suited to AMD GPUs. If you choose an NVidia GPU you'll want a G-Sync monitor, and you'll be paying more for this too, compared to Freesync.

If the title of this post is really true though I'd wait for a RX 580 or Vega card though. Possibly even Freesync 2. Of course you'll never buy anything if you listen to me, you'll just be waiting for new tech which is just round the corner ;)

I'd go Ryzen 1700 on a decent board, 16GB of the right sort of memory and wait for vega rx for the graphics (we should know release dates by next month and won't be long after).
