new G9 mouse - cant seem to reassign button functions

I have downloaded the latest G9 Setpoint software from logitech installed rebooted etc.

i am trying to make the two side buttons (near the thumb grip on the side) be: Forward and backward i.e. for my browser navigation (IE7 in my case).

they are definately set but they dont do anything. Anyone else have this problem or know what to do?

is it using the general profile (red by default),
in setpoint under profile manager make sure its set to application detection

It seems that the trick is not quite right: when i click the button to go back, it actually goes back two pages, not just one. :S

BTW frustin, how is the mouse performing?
Is it the best mouse you have used?
How does it perform in Windows or when surfing the net?
