New game needed

My Dad is after some new games after playing the Call Of Duty series and MOH series to death. He tried Call of Juarez and hated it so is after something new. I tried to get him to play some strategy games but his words to me were "I can't be ***** to faff around like that, I want to shoot people."

So, any recommendations for some good sp shooters that he can play please?
 
painkiller is pretty good for some all-out-shoot-anything-that-moves action.

There's hardly even a plot, you just shoot things til they stop shooting back :p

If he hasn't played HL2, the orange box is only £20 on Steam, and HL2 has the same cinematic progression as CoD/MoH
 
Perhaps Return to Castle Wolfenstein would be a good bet, given the war theme. It still looks quite pretty and has modest hardware requirements.
 
I've told him about Doom3 and Painkiller and he likes the sound of them, he doesn't care too much about the story, more the killing :/ tempted with Crysis for myself tbh to see what the fuss is.

If he's never played HL series then he should put this as priority over every other game. Buy Orange Box.
 
All half lifes available from steam. Team fortress 2 if he is into online gaming. Portal is a must have too.

Basically the 'The Orange box' which comes with;

Half life 2
Half life 2: Episode 1
Half life 2: Episode 2
Half life 2: Lost Coast
Peggle Extreme (:S)
Portal
Team Fortress 2

All for $40 whatever that converts to these days...around £30. He can buy it right now from steam and start downloading em :)
 
Crysis for sure, brilliant game. Oh and Half life 2 series.

I tried bioshock but didnt like it much, the guns dont feel that good to shoot and tbh old tommyguns and pistols are a bit outdated IMO. Plus felt like it was made for consoles..
 
I d'l Doom 3 and painkiller through steam last night so will be giving them a go tonight. Only thing is, Doom 3 doesn't support 1680 x 1050 :( So trying to find a resolution to match is a pain :(

Already have The Orange box, well pretty much every game in there, so will be trying to ween him onto HL at some point. Also about to order FEAR.
