I havent got into a game for a while because usually dont have much time.

I loved BF2 and have thought about getting BF4 but was put off by negative comments regarding bugs etc.

Is it worth buying and would I be able to have a quick game from go or is it another game where you need to build up to getting all the good weapons (so I would instantly die all the time as everyone will have been playing for many hours)

i think the best fast fun is titanfall at moment fps wise. bf4 is a watered down bf.

its not bad but not amazing.

only fps id look at at moment

titanfall
csgo
bf4

in that order.

The start weapons are good enough to actually use, and you'll have most of the gadgets etc. within 4-5 hours of play. Unfortunately, you will instantly die all the time as everyone knows the maps because they have been playing for many hours. I think that's just FPS in general, coming late always has that setback for the first little while.

If you decide to give it a go, let us know what type of map you like (indoors/outdoors, intantry or vehicles etc) and we can suggest a couple of good maps, then you can find servers that feature only those, or only a few maps including those, which gives you the opportunity to learn more quickly and be on a level playing field.

I have BF4, I personally wouldn't recommend it because of the bugs. I feel cheated a high percentage of the times that I die on that game. I know its natural to feel cheated in FPS games, but in BF4 you'll get shot around corners, get shot by players after unloading a mag on them which has not registered and so on.

In my opinion Arma 3 is the best shooter, but I guess it depends on what you like in those kinds of games. I love the vulnerability you feel in Arma 3, being fired upon by a group of people at a distance and feeling genuinely pinned down and exhilarated. It has a steep learning curve and can be clunky at times, but Arma 3 is incredibly immersive and tactical, I'd definitely recommend it if you don't have it already.

I don't think there's any contest between BF4 and Titanfall, BF4 wins hands down. Titanfall is good fun, don't get me wrong, I bought it with the season pass but it was uninstalled after a few weeks. BF4 has improved massively, yes there are still bugs but there's far more variation in maps, weapons and choice. People will be playing BF4 long after Titanfall hype has died down.

If you want to try out a dedicated mech type fps Hawken is free and quite good fun, but again probably not as good as either mentioned above.

bought titanfall 2 days ago ago and had bf4 for 2 months approx, i had more crashes in bf4 in 1 hour than i have had in 2 days with titanfall plus titanfall is so much fun compared to bf4.

at least i know when i start titanfall i can finish a game unlike bf4

I am in a position in Battlefield 4 where when I join servers I am massively behind in rankings and weapon unlocks, but that adds to the challenge.

When your rank 8 and have more points and a better K/D ratio than those who have higher ranks you get a better sense of achievement.

I don't have much time for gaming either, but I manage to squeeze in 3 or 4 rounds in the odd spare hour I get. It's never enough though :)

^this.

Try the Capture the Island mod for Arma 3. It's similar to capture the flag on Battlefield but better is every way.

Can you even get Titanfall for PC? (I dont have an xbox)

edit - looks like you can.

I read the Eurogamer article, and it has put me off buying this. The final straw is that the game runs slower than Battlefield 4 maxxed out, despite being far inferior

Read their article/review. It is VERY detailed. Titanfall does not have cutting edge graphics or performance. BF4 has both.

Is this true?

I can get an Origin key for £23.99, good price?

Out of interest, does anyone still play BF2? I could happily go back to it even if there were a few people playing only Karkland map.

RE Titanfall cdkeys.com has it for £24 instead of £36. What more do you get buying direct from Origin?

Thanks all, I went with Titanfall and have been downloading it today. 97% complete downloading over 3G because its quicker than my poor wifi. Some nice 3 mobile usage here - 48gb :)

there's still more than enough on BF2 to warrant a reinstall.
I always play on a Karkand 24/7 server when I jump on, lots of times it full.
The one thing I will say is people look at BF2 with rose tinted glasses. I love the game as much now as I did in 2005, but the hit detection on Bf2 is just as bad as BF4. people just choose to forget some things when thinking back. Trust me, you'll see what I mean when you play it again.
however if you want BF2, the communities still there to have BF2.

Sweet, ill re-install BF2 aswell. Yeh, I know what you mean as I installed it about 2 years ago - It didnt seem quite the same but I think that's because I wasn't in a clan or even team and just running around shooting at tanks.

I was a member of 50klicks in 2005 for about 6 months and they were the best months of gaming ever for me. The only thing that annoyed me was the game lobby - It was terrible. Hopefully Titanfall has a half decent lobby
