Hi,

Over the next few months I am going to undertaking my first build. I'm going to AMD simply because what I have been reading they seem easier to overclock and you get a lot more for your money, im sure some of you will disagree but each to their own!

The components that I will be using are as follows.

Case: Coolermaster Elite 430
CPU: AMD Black Edition - AMD Phenom II X6 3.2 GHz
Motherboard: Asus Crosshair IV Formula AMD 890FX
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-15000C9 1866MHz Dual Channel Kit

Then I am stuck! My questions to you are as follows:

1. What is the best graphics card for £100-£150
2. What size PSU would you reccomend.
3. What CPU Cooler would you reccomend
4. Are all of the above compatible and will they be ok for gaming.
5. Do you have any suggestions that would make this system better?

Thanks for help
Ben

If you would like an AMD chip wait just a little bit longer. Bulldozer is very, very close*.
(*subject to AMD actually releasing it :p)

Edit: Oh and you can overclock intel's sandy bridge chips by clicking the an "overclock" button.

I have seen takl of these and think the motherboard is AM3 as well as AM3+ so should be able to take this CPU. How much are they going to be?

AMD are normally good value, so unless their new chip blows sandy bridge out of the water then we should see some decent pricing.
At the very least the chip you have chosen above will come down in price!

Thanks skid34. Some good stuff in there, i think I will go with power supply defiently and probably the GPU aswell.

Any more suggestions?

Thanks

Thanks, the Asus M5A99X EVO AMD 990X looks pretty good. Are you saying the board I posted is not compatible with the AMD Black Edition - AMD Phenom II X6 3.2 GHz
?

Thanks

I not to sure about its compatibility, there is a BIOS update saying it has AM3+ support, but I don't know if they now come with the Black sockets.

Its also not listed under AM3+ at the ASUS webiste, it comes under the AM3 selection only.

I would rather play safe and get a 9 series chipset etc.

There is another version (V) with a Black socket and 9series chipset - http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM3Plus/Crosshair_V_Formula/#specifications
