Hi all,

New to the forums, joined as I'm currently looking to buy/build a future proofed gaming rig from OcUK that I could upgrade further along the line.

I've only ever had one gaming rig and that was built around 5 years ago, so I'm pretty much clueless as to which parts are compatible and which is the best combination.. I've been reading reviews and looking on the benchmark sites but guessed that you guys would be the best advice!

I was initially looking at the i7 5820K and the GTX 970 as the basis for the build, noticed that OcUK have the following build on the site but not sure if this is the best build for the price?

Ideally looking to spend around the same sort of price range as I've got the peripherals and monitors to buy as well.

Any advice?

Thanks

Hi and Welcome :)

If you are just gaming I would stick with Z97. The X99 platform is a bit more expensive due to the price of DDR4 Ram, and also the cpu/Motherboards cost a little bit more.

The spec below would allow you to upgrade to an i7 4790K or a Broadwell i7 when they get released next year. At the moment though, an i5 is more than capable for a gaming pc. An i7 won't benefit you unless you are doing things like Video editing/Rendering etc.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 Gaming 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £299.99
1 x Gigabyte Z97X-SLI - Devils Canyon Core i5 4690K Bundle **£14 Saving** £248.58
1 x Phanteks Enthoo Pro Mid Tower Enthusiast Case with Window £89.99
1 x EVGA SuperNova G2 750W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply £85.99
1 x Crucial MX100 256GB SATA 2.5” 7mm SSD + 9.5mm Adapter (CT256MX100SSD1) £79.99
1 x Microsoft Windows 8.1 64-Bit DVD - OEM (WN7-00614) £77.99
1 x Kingston HyperX 8GB (2x4GB) PC3-17100C11 2133MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black/Red (HX21C11BRK2/8-OC) £67.99
1 x Toshiba 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6GB/s 64MB Cache - OEM (DT01ACA200) HDD £57.98
1 x Raijintek EreBoss High Performance CPU Cooler £29.99
1 x Pioneer 24x Internal DVR-221LBK DVD Rewriter - OEM £13.49
Total : £1,061.58 (includes shipping : £8.00).

The EVGA 750W psu would allow for a 2nd GTX 970 if you want to add another later on.

If you don't want to build the pc yourself, then you can ask in the Customer services section for a quote.

This thread shows you how to get the shopping cart plugin which will make it easier to post your spec - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18371076&highlight=browser

Or if you are using Google Chrome - https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ocuk-shopping-cart-viewer/empfloiadabicdlgahhamannadefhehj

You can change the case if you don't like it, and anything else you want.

Here is the Customer Services pre-sales section in case you want them to build it - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=117

Just post your spec in there and they will give you a price.
