i was considering the 4870, but reading reviews, it performs just aswell as the 260, but it gets hotter and louder than the 260, and the size of the card.. im not sure it'll fit.

and yeh the velociraptor is for booting, loved having a raptor so im betting this new one is going to keep me happy for a while

changed the ram and board to the one your recommended, however im wondering if im able to overclock with this board?

mmm the board does look tasty... very well i'll keep it on the list.

another problem i was thinking about was the compact space inside the lian li, not sure how much clearance i'll have for the cpu cooler, and if the scythe ninja mini will be able to perform well enough after overclocking.

just read the review for the mini scythe, the fan looks pretty cheapo, so might change it for one of these: Xilence XPF80R Red Wing 80mm Quiet Fan or this Noctua NF-R8 80mm since its the 3pin.

hmm.. i'll replace those too then, original budget was 1k, so i got plenty to spare for these fans.

hmm i see 3x 3pin slots on the DFI, so would these Noctua NF-S12 800RPM 120mm be good enough or should i go for the 1200rpm ones?

okay, edited the basket with those in, finally back to gfx card, should i go for the 4870 or the GTX260?

started playing a lot more Steam games recently so radeons should perform better?

just noticed that the GTX260 doesnt have HDMI output

was looking for something i can use with a 1080p TV.

believe i'll be going for GTX260 then, wont be looking to upgrade for a longtime, and not really interested in having 2 gfx cards all budged up in a tiny case

just read this review and seems like this card is pretty sweet for the money, tho the XFX one is pretty decent.

updated the list, believe its at quite a decent price for the performance, hoping the CPU isnt bottlenecking. ..

now i need to find a decent monitor/TV

EDIT: Looked at the Hanns.G HG281D 28" Widescreen seems to have some decent reviews in the monitor section but.. quite a few complaints about dead pixels :/

Just started the build today, been at it for 3 hours so far with the frustration of working out how everything is supposed to go into this tiny thing, tho it was a big bigger than i thought it would be

anyway heres the pics:

Noctua 120mm fans installed in the front

OCZ Power brick

Some really nice looking RAM, tho it doesnt really match the colours of the mobo.

the HUGE!! Leadtek GTX260 HArdcore gfx card...

and my current problem...

Im kind of stuck on which one or both power ports to use.. :s

and whats the tiny one for?

Successfully completed the build last night, took a total of 6hours because of the frustration getting the cables all sorted out and out of sight, ran into so many more problems with the tight space, the noctua 92mm fan just wouldnt go in, so i had to take it off and assemble it while it was inside the case. Adding photos later after i resize them

PS: Its happily running Windows 7 RC 64bit without any problems.

one minor overclock that happened when i pressed F1, seems to be running absolutely fine.

just wondering if anyone could teach me how to overclock this thing, looking at the options confuses me :s

heres the rest of the pics:

the left side, with the crammed gfx card oh so close to the fans.

better view of the cables and where the pcie cables are coming down from the above 3.5" bay drive.

the right side with the cpu fan i had to assemble inside the case since it wouldnt fit if i did it out. psu cables are still hanging out...

and.. completion, runs awesome!

just some more 1 click overclocking, currently stress testing it at 3608mhz

on full load after 15mins it rarely fluctuates around the 79c margin.

PS: I <3 Win7

EDIT: 1hr later still staying around the 79c temp around 1 hour of running prime95

i got rid of the 3.6ghz clock, since it crashed my game after 10mins of gameplay, Prime95 ran absolutely stable for 2 hours tho. :confused:

reverted back to 3.33ghz and did a 3Dmark, no idea why the CPU clock is wrong. :/
