hi guys this is the spec for my new PC that i am in the process of ordering

asus rampage 2 extreme, i7 920 @ 4.0 ghz, corsair xms3 6gb, akasa cooler for cpu and apache fan for it

Coolermaster HAF 932
Corsair 750tx power supply
300 gb velociraptors x 2
pioneer combo blue ray/dvd burner/player
win 7 home edition 64 bit
logitech g9
xfx 5870

i have the case and bundle motherboard/cooler/processor/RAM, power supply unit. i got all of these installed and fitted last weekend should be receiving the velociraptors x2, blue ray and operating system this week.
xfx whenever it gets in hopefully before christmas.

so have to hook up raptors and blue ray and install operating system.

will be my first build and first time installing any operating system.

couple of questions,
i want to set up the 2 raptors in raid 0, is this done in bios before loading in win 7 install disc?
ime guessing i have to select the blue ray as boot drive to start loading operating system??
are all drivers, chipset, lan, audio anything else applicable, are these all installed after the operating system?

also as this is an overclocked bundle i7 920 @ 4.0ghz should i save the bios settings to floppy/disc/USB incase of any problems??

think i hevent missed anything. any tips tricks or whatever much obliged.

especially on RAID 0, i want just a super fast gaming rig so think this is best option??

Check out this thread I found, there is a guy doing what you are wanting to do and found a solution to his problem which might help you.

I figured out the problem.

I was assuming since windows wouldn't install on my RAID array that I needed to install the raid drivers. This assumption was wrong.

I kept getting the error "Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition" when trying to install on it.

Solution: You HAVE to set your RAID array as the FIRST boot device. Not your CD-Rom. Hair pulling problem, simple solution.

ya cool probably something that ime gonna come accross anyway.

Any other installation tips out there??

do chipset lan audio and any other drivers need to be installed before operating system is installed, or can they even be installed first??

When you install the Operating System, it will find all the ports however some will be generic ( work in the basic way but not optimised ). For you to take advantage of the features you will need to install the drivers supplied on the CD/DVD that comes with your motherboard, as well as those for your graphics card. You will be requested to reboot though you can install everything so you just need to reboot once. So to answer the question OS first then all your drivers.

After installing the OS, you need to go to Asus VIP Member site to find the latest drivers for the mobo which are optimised for a particular.
