My current PC is 9 years old so about time for an upgrade! Obviously going for a completely new build. Want to be able to play the latest games on what will probably be a 23 or 24" monitor on high settings (suggestions welcome) and would ideally want it to be future proof for at least 3 years. I need a copy of windows 7 but no mouse and keyboard for now. After doing some research, this is what I've come up with:
OcUK Value GeForce GTX 470 1280MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with MAFIA 2 £223.24
(£189.99) £223.24
(£189.99)
Intel Core i5 760 2.80GHz (Lynnfield) (Socket LGA1156) - Retail £146.86
(£124.99) £146.86
(£124.99)
Asus P7P55D-E Intel P55 (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard £104.99
(£89.35) £104.99
(£89.35)
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit - OEM (GFC-00599) £81.06
(£68.99) £81.06
(£68.99)
Corsair TX 650W ATX SLi Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-650TXUK) £79.99
(£68.08) £79.99
(£68.08)
Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9) £76.36
(£64.99) £76.36
(£64.99)
Antec 300 Three Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case - Black £43.98
(£37.43) £43.98
(£37.43)
Samsung SpinPoint F3 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (HD502HJ) £32.99
(£28.08) £32.99
(£28.08)
Sony Optiarc AD-5260S 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £15.99
(£13.61) £15.99
(£13.61)
* Sub Total : £685.51
Shipping cost assumes delivery to UK Mainland with:
DPD Next Day Parcel
(This can be changed during checkout) Shipping : £12.50
VAT is being charged at 17.50% VAT : £122.15
* Total : £820.16
Budget isn't particularly strict but this seems around about right. I am willing to pay more if any changes will make a visible difference to performance but am still looking for bang-for-buck to an extent. Essentially, what I want to know is can I go for cheaper options on anything and not sacrifice performance, stability and longevity or can I improve any of these three for a smallish increase in price?
Thanks!
