Hello,

I am currently looking hard at two laptops, the Asus G751JY and the Alienware 17. Now, I have an Alienware right now, and it's dying quickly. Graphics card is dead, blah blah. So, that's a bit disappointing and why I am sort of leaning to Asus. Any way, here are the two models.

Alienware 17:
Intel® Core™ i7-6820HK (Quad-Core, 8MB Cache, Dynamically Overclocked up to 4.14GHz)
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 980M with 4GB GDDR5
16GB Dual Channel DDR4 2133MHz
512GB PCIe SSD (Boot) + 1TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s (Storage)

Asus G751JY:
Intel® Core™ i7-4870HQ Processor, 2.50GHz (6M Cache, up to 3.70GHz) NVIDIA GeForce GTX980M with 4GB GDDR5 SATA
1TB 7200RPM 2.5' HDD, PCI-E 512G SSD
32 GB DDR3L-SDRAM

So, my concern with the ASUS is the older processor, but other than that the two are very similar. I know 32 GB of RAM is overkill, but that's what it comes with. What do you guys think? Or another brand?

Bear in mind that the Asus G752 will be getting launched soon, with Skylake CPU's and a new design. I wish I'd known that a couple of month ago when I bought my G751!

I had an Alienware 17" and found it to be a bit bulky. I got an Aorus X7 a couple of months ago and with 970M SLI, G-Sync and 100MHz screen refresh (OC) it is a really good gaming laptop in a slim form factor. Its a 5850 CPU but you wont notice a difference when gaming or in general use. It comes with 512GB SSD and I added 2 1TB SSD drives for all my games. No compromises over a desktop system at 1920x1080 IMO.
