I'm currently looking at either the Alienware AW2725DF or the LG 27GS95QE, to go alongside my current build:

Ryzen 5900x | Giga X570 GAMING X | 2x16GB Team Group Edition DDR4 | Nvidia RTX 3090 FE | Corsair RM1000x 80 Plus Gold | Lian Li Lancool One Midi | LG 27GL850-B 27" 1440p | Arctic Liquid Freezer II

Reviews seem to suggest the Alienware is slightly better and prices are pretty much the same.

I mainly use the PC for gaming, generally strategy and sports sims but also a fair amount of COD.

Does anyone have any experience with either?

Both Alienware and LG monitors have a good reputation, perhaps Alienware is best regarded, plus the Alienware has a higher refresh rate at 360Hz vs 240Hz for the LG.

Yeah the 360Hz does appeal. I can't utilise it really with my current build but I intend to upgrade to a 4090 or something in the new 5000 series at some point, so nice to know the monitor will be future proofed for that.

Have you had a look at offerings from OCUK as well?

The MSI 27" MAG 271QPX QD-OLED at £748.99 is worth considering:
