Hey all, the old MSI laptop is on the way out and I want to build a PC again - last built..... about 10 years ago!! PC mainly for gaming and some coding / VMs. Peripherals I have and I run an LG 34UC99 Ultrawide for my main monitor and an old IPS as a secondary. Not interested in visuals, colours, spangly lights, all function in terms of a complete build.

Looking for something fast for playing games such as ARK, Satisfactory etc - big worlds both SP and MP with a large amount of objects/processing going on. Ideally I'd prefer a smaller case but if a full size is required it's not the end of the world.. Have used OC for ever and had two great builds suggested on here before so let's keep the trend going!!

For this budget I'd look for at least 32GB of memory, a 5600X, 3700X, 10700 or 10900 and a 3060 Ti or 3070.

I don't know much about those games, but from what I found, it seems important that they have plenty of memory, so I'd avoid 16GB systems. Not that I'd think 16GB was ever good value for 2K!

It's possible at OCUK, but unfortunately I can't comment on if this is good value or not:

OCUK Ryzen configurator
£2005.76

AMD Ryzen 5600X
32GB Night Hawk RGB 3200
*Build Stock* GeForce GTX 3070
WD Blue 3D NAND 250GB SSD
Seagate 1TB HDD
Kolink 1200 Watt Platinum PSU
Windows 10 Home
OCUK Professional Build

  • I'd swap the NVME drive for something like a Sabrent 1TB Rocket NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 - it's a much better OS drive.
  • CPU you can drop to a 5800X for £420 - 5900X is overkill for gaming.
  • RTX 3080 is perfect for 1440p and high FPS and will last a while.

That's a self-build, right? Makes the configurator system I did look poor value.

Configurator will have a massive premium, and based on what I've seen from other people here, the parts aren't great. You'll save money doing it yourself and will get a better PC out of it.

I personally don't see the value of a preassembled PC. They're incredibly easy to build and set up yourself. Any problems can be assisted by the knowledge on this forum too.
