Hi,
I'm about to upgrade my old PC especially now when I starting to have problems with my motherboard. Here are my old spects:
MB: Asus Maximus VII Ranger
CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4,4 GHz
GPU: GeForce GTX 1080Ti Zotac AMP Extreme
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB RAM DDR3
SSD: CRUCIAL MX100 512GB
SSHD: 2TB SEAGATE
PSU: CORSAIR RM 80+ GOLD 1000W

Could you help me build it up? Please. I was trying to find a CPU but it is so hard to find one which is gonna be the best for gaming. So I rely on you to help me. I'm gonna need all new parts upgraded except for GPU.
Thank you for your help.

Regards Greg

SORRY for bad English.
No need to apologise.
I noticed decrease of efficiency, a lot of problems with USB devices which are connected to MB. Also PC started to freeze from time to time. You can see also FPS on my YT video jump to 5min 20sec. --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUcvYFJmKMM&t=1s
What troubleshooting have you done already to try and resolve the issue?

(USB problems can be driver related - but admit the boards controller can develop problems)

I did a lot to be honest with you. I was in touch with Asus. They were trying to help me but with no luck. Was trying with USB drivers, reinstall Windows, upgrade BIOS, restart BIOS, changing cables, changing BIOS settings. Or even more I do not remember because this issue lasts few months now. And always the same.

You appear to have done thorough research.

I'm guessing a fresh install of Windows 10 was one of them?

Also, have you checked the motherboard is securely fixed on the risers and that the back I/O Backplate isn't interfering with any of the inputs?

And what is cooling your CPU?

Long shot - Is the board still within 3 year warranty?

Yes I done fresh install Windows even twice (just in case).
And yes MB is securly fixed (I did not touch it from 4 years) also back I/O Backplate seems to be ok.
I use bequiet! for CPU with 2 fans temperature from 35-37 to 80-82(more or less)
And the warranty just expired. It was for 4 years.

I won't bore you with other possible solutions as you clearly have done your homework :)

Unlucky - have you considered a second hand board or do you want to sell your 4790K and start again?

If you want INTEL, if you can, i would really wait for Coffee Lake - it's not a great time to consider an INTEL build at the moment.

However, i would try and steer you towards Ryzen if you're interested? Have you read recent reviews and watched gaming comparison on YouTube?

I was thinking about selling my stuff. And I considered about Coffee Lake but also I was reading opinions about it and people are saying is not a point to upgrade... really?. Don't know what to do I was thinking about Core i7 8700K. I was watching on YT about Ryzen 7. And Ryzen seems to be slower about 10% in game but faster in rendering compering it with Intel i7-7700k... Well maybe will be better to wait for new Intel?

INTEL wins with overall speed in gaming - but the relative difference in real world terms is negligible.

However, it's not a 10% clean sweep across all games - and Ryzen does have its out and out moments with some games where extra threads/cores are utilised. Obviously Coffee Lake will address this but at a much bigger premium in price (CPU and motherboard prices combined).

It depends how much budget is a factor - if money is a novelty then the Ryzen will win pound for pound (Euro for Euro) when compared to it's INTEL counterpart. The reality is you wouldn't notice the speed difference between INTEL/Ryzen in real world terms - once you've got a powerful CPU paired with a GTX 1080 @ 1080p/1440p you're not going to notice small percentages of better FPS - for either CPU.

I, personally, would try and source a new board for your present CPU - or a quality second hand one - as this will give you time to see Coffee Lake released and what option suits your needs best.

I certainly wouldn't be considering the 7700K - this would be a costly move onto an expensive socket which is on borrowed time re: life span of socket.

So I will wait for new Intel CPU and then will see so far there is no point of buying anything. Probably I will decide to buy new intel if so what about MB, RAM, PS and case with good air flow? I'm planning to spend £2000+ for everything.

Sounds like a solid plan.

I'm afraid i can't spec what's yet to be released - but suspect your £2000 will go a long way, with quality everything for just a base unit.

I would ask for a complete spec on Coffee Lake's release - but would assume some of your internals will be transferable?

Hope your system remains stable enough until release.

From the old PC I'm planning to take only SSHD and SSD. I always look up for quality because I'm planning to use it at least for next 5 years. So when Intel will release new CPU I will ask again for help to choose right parts. :)

^Re-use this.

It's still the most powerful consumer grade graphics card on the market. It hasn't even been out a year dude. Please don't bin this/sell it.

Strix B350-F and a Ryzen 1700 would be a nice setup for you with some 3200Mhz DDR4.

Hi I'm back! :)
New Intel's processor will release soon (i7-8700K). I was watching few videos on YT channel about it. And I'm impressed. What's your opinion about this i7? I think will go for it? If you agree with me can you help me to build the PC?
Motherboard (Asrock Z370 Taichi Intel Z370 or Gigabyte Z370 AORUS Ultra Gaming Intel Z370 or maybe some other?)
RAM 3200 Mhz up to 16GB?
PSU up to 850W?
Case with good air flow?
Kraken X62 AIO Water Cooling Unit - 280mm
And plus 500GB 850 EVO SSD 2.5"

As I mentioned earlier... I'm planning to spend £2000+ for everything.
I looking forward for answer. Regards Greg.

Taichi and Aorus 7 are stunning boards , but honestly with your current chip, just wait till next year for 8 core or IPC increase at least .

If you haven't got a G-sync monitor with that Ti, recommend getting one :D

What exactly do you use the pc for ? Just gaming ? Do you do anything else such as twitch streaming or video editing/rendering etc ?

What monitor do you have ?

As mentioned by plec, your current system is still very good.
