Personally I would look at the 4690k or the 4790k cpu's they are quicker than the AMD and pull a lot less power at the same time:

Thanks for the really fast reply RJC!

I'm not exactly sure as to what makes the CPUs faster i know that more cores means it can run more processes simultaneously. Would you mind explaining how the 4790K would be faster then a FX-8 piledriver (due to it having 8 cores and a faster clock speed then the i7)

Interesting, i suppose the intel hyper-threading makes the difference if it can out performance a higher clocked CPU with double the cores; it is definitely a big contender now.

Do you know anything or have any comments on my choice of case, i know this case has many nice fans that can fit a couple radiators and has 6 HDD/SSD bays (which can be removed to fit bigger GPUs).

you cant compare cpu clock speed unless your looking at the same range of cpus, you can have an 8 core cpu at 5 ghz but if the cores are only doing quarter of the calculations per clock as say a 4 core at the same clock speed the 4 core is till going to be twice as fast!
by range of cpus that is say a i5 4690k and a i7 4790k they are both effectively the same chip but the i7 just has hyperthreading so you can directly compare their clock speeds.
