currently have a 27 inch LG 1440p monitor, want to up that to maybe a 32, 34 inch ? OLED the way to go ? bit concerned about burn in.
setup is currentlly 16gb ram ddr 3 i think ? 2080 super gpu and a ryzen 9 3900x.
Im want hopefully over double the performance, so im looking at the top amd gaming chip.

budget including the monitor, im hoping i can get a good setup for less than 4 grand, thanks for any help, i just use the pc for all sorts of games, occasional FPS and strategy games, odd racing game etc, have a good logitech keyboard and mouse.

Last upgraded just before covid hit, before prices went mad

This is a decent spec for 1440p and to an extent: 4K.

According to TPU's database, the 9070 XT is just over double a 2080 Super.

The CPU: that's hard to measure, it will depend on the game, the graphics card, settings, resolution, etc. The 9800X3D is the best you can buy though, so there's that...

I know nothing about OLED monitors, so don't recommend you buy one in my spec.

4. Your Ryzen doesn't support 3.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £2,602.87 (includes delivery: £0.00)

Thanks, whats amd graphics card drivers like at the moment ? amd the way to go, with a nvidia 5080 price seems a bit high ?

That list above looks like what id recommend. Id shy away from nvidia (and did in fact) when it comes to the 5000 series cards unless you have a mega budget. I bought the 9070xt for 1440p gaming and its great! Overclocked it beats 5070ti and can compete with stock 5080 for a lot less.

Unless raytracing is something you really want, go 9070

Thanks, that's just the type of system im after then, 9070 xt it is
Do watch the price though, the availability has been terrible since launch and they have been going for silly money in some places. At their launch price they're decent price/perf, but once they add £50, £100, £200+ they rapidly stop making sense.

if you want to play with ray-tracing though, then nvidia would be the obvious choice though
(and also if you have need to use CUDA or nvenc)

imo, with your budget, i would either go big (5090), or pick value (7090xt)

This.

The entire Nvidia product stack for the 5000 series is crap outside of the 5090 imo, maybe a 5070ti if at MSRP at a push if you really want RT or are a hardcore fanboy.

RE OLED you want a latest gen panel, 32" 4K 240Hz is a good way to determine if it's one of the newer ones. They have significantly fewer burn-in issues. I have the Dell AW3225QF and can recommend, absolutely blows the mind. Compared side-by-side with your usual top-spec IPS panels and they look washed out and with blurrier motion in comparison. I didn't think it was possible. Kinda like the TN to IPS comparison, but this time with better motion clarity.

You're looking at about 250W for 2080 Super while gaming vs about 310W for a regular 9070XT

Not much of a difference. How many hours of gaming would you do? What's your electricity unit rate? Should be easy to calculate an estimated electricity cost increase.

so about an extra 60 watt bulb say, thats not 2 bad, computer is on most evenings and weekends, bit less when the weather is good

im near ready to purchase, few changes, might up the SSD storage space, as i like my space.

gaming monitor 34 inches 4k 3440x1440, Ryzen 7 9800x3d Rx9070xt 16gb mem 32gb DDR Ram. 2tb m.2 drive. 4.tb SSD.

any thing else i should change or advice ? would 32gb ram be ok, or aswell going 64 for the next - upcoming 2 to 3 years ?

The majority of games don't need more than 32GB, but city builders/long-run strategy, heavily modded games and flight sims can do.

Personally, if I was buying a high-end system like yours, I'd just get 64GB and call it done until you junk the PC.

No motherboard in your list.
