Hi all
I last put together a gaming PC 4 years ago after lockdown. This was based on a Ryzen 7 3700X. I bought a Geforce RTX 4070 and 1440p monitors a year or so ago, but now want to update and future proof a bit again. I have an older graphics card I can replace the 4070 with, which I will keep and use again, and will pass the old system on to a new home. After browsing for a bit I have put together the following/ Anyone have any other advice or suggestions? Thanks in advance.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,290.89 (includes delivery: £0.00)

I'd swap the ram for the c30 EXPO kit. I don't recommend AS5 for your thermal paste - Kingpin KPx or Noctua NT-H2 get my vote (or MX4 if you want to save the pennies).

How sensitive are you to PSU noise? I had that one and found the fan incredibly annoying.

Thank you for your insights.
Could you link to the RAM? Searched for the phrase and got a list as long as your arm :)
Noise is an issue - The PC is 2 foot away on top of the desk and is on all day while I work. I heard that water cooling AIO's were noisier than a fan based cooler which is why I went for the Noctua. If the PSU is noisy is there a quiet but reliable alternative?

These are a decent price, but I'd recommend getting a different model for your second drive. With storage, I always try to buy them from a different batch, because I don't want two faulty drives from the same one.

This model is too expensive when it is inferior to the RMx or the RMx Shift (newer, but needs compatible case due to side-mount cables).

If this is your OS drive you might want to step up to a higher-end DRAM drive like the T500 or WN850X.

I'd get a freezer 36 or peerless assassin/phantom spirit and save some ££.

First thing that I would get rid of is the stupidly overpriced Noctua cooler. Replace it with a Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 Evo which is just as good but massively cheaper at just under £45 for the black version. The standard version with different fans is less than £33!! I have a Thermalright Peerless Assassin SE120 on my 7800x3d and it's very quiet. My pc is right next to me as well.

When I was researching components for my AM5 upgrade I found more posts about problems with Corsair memory than any other brand. With that in mind I avoided them and went with a Klevv Bolt V 32Gb DDR5 6000 30-36-36-76 kit instead and so far it's been running perfectly. It cost me £109 from elsewhere but has increased in price over the weekend. I would be aiming for a 6000mhz C30 or C32 Expo kit.

The Corsair RMe series is not as good as the units they replaced. It now only has a 7 year warranty as Corsair cheaped out on the OEM yet again and as a result it has inferior components than the unit it replaced. The Phanteks AMP GH 850w would be a much better choice at just under £105.

Arctic Silver had it's day and it's long gone, plus it's conductive. Just buy some Arctic MX-4 for a fiver instead. It's better performing and non-conductive.

The Lexar NM790 1Tb is a faster drive with a longer life than the WD SN770 you have picked plus it's the same price. If you shop around you can pick up a Seagate Firecuda 530 2Tb for £130.

Thank you. I really appreciate you taking the time. This will be my 4th build overall over the years, and a lot has changed. I don't really keep up with news and reviews in between builds, so your advice in invaluable.

How about these replacements?
Have gone RGB as you are going for a RGB case And it is £55 cheaper.
Cooler comes with a small tube of Arctic MX-6 so you don't need to order extra.
