Hi all, been a long time since i've been here, forgot I had an account. Right im looking at getting a new Rig, my current rig is a i5 with a 970 GTX and 8GB ram, im still on windows 7! lol.

Ive specced this up for under 1300quid would like some input, not sure on best memory, PSU, etc etc and I will also want a new monitor. Any suggestions on alterations would be most welcome.

That looks pretty good, I do like that case I picked though.....

I can happily build it myself, just fancied having it all done for me for once.

Thanks for reply.

Yeah, cases are very much a personal choice. Glad I've giving you some ideas about the sort of spec you can get for your money though.

What's your monitor ? £200+ card might just be wasted if card can't drive it well or will be sat wasting performance on nothing

Good point, thought I'd said, I plan on getting a new monitor to run at 1440 144hz which appears to be the sweet spot.

all in at once, since Zen3 will launch end of year , would slap in 8/12 core Zen3 in maybe 2 years . 6 core should do fine specially at 1440p . Freesync monitor with AMD card to keep prices down and good game play. Aorus is £5 more then Gigabytes Gaming mid tier card but with unheard of 4 yr warranty for AMD GPU. also the Coolest and Quietest Navi card currently .

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,226.04 (includes shipping: £18.12)

on here, 3700x would set you back bang on £1300

Gaming OC can be had just under £350 mark which is DAMN good- but then shipping costs to be factored in
Monitor is out of stock so you'd need to hunt for it

Pretty set on a 2070 any reason why you suggest the AMD GPU?

Don't plan on touching this for years, this is going to last a while.

Cheaper for equal performance or better - hense releasing 2070 Super. Freesync screens cheaper then Gsync /Gsync enabled screens .

Soon as you buy hardware it's obsolete :/
Specially if consoles push raytracing

Plus, using AMD and Freesync you get a whole system in one go !!!

Thanks for ya help. Is that case ok as its really small? Little worried about these small cases.....

Also maybe a dumb question but I don't see any DvD drives on PC's anymore. how do you play older games with a disc?

Case is small for mATX boards which are shorter then regular ATX boards. ITX ones are tiny !

Case can handle 314mm length GPUs, that one is 280/90mm

Just a heads up, the low latency Team Group stuff might not actually be any better than more standard 3200mhz stuff.

It used to be unscreened b-die, but there's no guarantee it still is, the 'guaranteed' stuff was 8 Pack branded.

It's a little bit of a gamble.

Might be better to play it safe and grab the following for a tenner more:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £79.99 (includes shipping: £0.00)

Edit: The Team Group stuff isn't available anymore anyway now I check. lol

This stuff claims to be b-die and is well priced at the moment.

Ive specced this up

Let's dive straight in. @Joxeon has beaten me to the parts list, but here's why:

You've specced a Ryzen 2700 - this is the last generation of CPU. You want the 3700 today.
You've specced 3000 MHz RAM; you want 3600 MHz, which is the sweet spot for Ryzen.
You've specced a SATA SSD. That's good but you might want to consider a M.2 drive.
You've specced Windows Home Advanced; if you're buying a pukka license then go for Windows Professional, so you get everything.
You've specced an Asus graphics card; go for Gigabyte or Zotac instead for UK RMA and forum support for Gigabyte.
The motherboard is unspecified. At your end of the market go for a MSI Tomahawk Max (ATX) or Mortar Max (mATX).
