New Gaming Rig Advice..

No problem, I will from now on. Thanks mod for cleaning it up.

Been playing Battlegrounds now for a couple hours, it's really running great! We have got an overclock to come yet as well :D

Great - the memory on first inspection seems stable.

Down boy! :D

You're clocked memory old hat already? (anything over 1667MHz) ;)

We can look at that - but it will have to be a moderate attempt with a stock cooler.

But, we'll keep things at stock for a week or two and be sure it's behaving itself. I'll be interested to know how ARMA 3, GTA V plays - when you get round to it - both CPU intensive games.

Seems to be!

Haha well at the moment it's only 3.2ghz isn't it? I've seen we should be able to get it up to maybe 3.8?

Just come off from playing for a few hours. I didnt get one stutter the whole time. Hope that is a sign for other games.

Will test Arma tomorrow to see.

How can you order and build a PC from scratch (admittedly with a lot of help) - and still not know the power spec of your components?

Bad Beady!

Your CPU has 6 cores each with a base clock of 3.2GHz but will boost to 3.6GHz when under load - t'is why I suggested it for your gaming rig :p

We could go for a clock in a couple of weeks - but 3.6GHz should see you grinning for a while

I knew that, I promise :D Haha it's just that I saw it as 3.2 in BIOS so presumed.

Very happy so far.

Great stuff - i'm just glad it appears to have worked out for you in the end.

That's why I think you should enjoy it for a good couple of weeks before we introduce a clock - also helps validate its stability at stock and gives you more time to become accustomed with your system. Plus, you may want to consider a third party cooler if you do choose to venture down the overclocking path...

Thanks for all your help Plec.

Who shall I contact regarding my Steam voucher with Gigabyte?

Not entirely sure bud.

I would contact their customer service - and briefly explain the situation and ask for the contact that can help you directly with your problem.

But i've read the small print - and it states that technically the offer runs from jan until end of March and depends on stock availability. Plus, they reserve the right to adjust promotional content at a whim - so you may be on a hiding to nothing.

Worth an email though.

Although it's an early access game - I must admit I'm tempted to get the game. I've watched a few yogscast vids and it looks like a great concept. Must get quite tense if you're one of the few left near the end.

Now that's an authentic burger! Chips looks good too.

How much?

Don't have anything like that quality locally - would have to travel to Exeter. Other than expensive weekend farm shop - not quite the same..

£16.75 with milk shake
That burger still looks appetising first thing in the morning - not a bad price considering quality and location either.

It is the place my brother visits - he raved about it for 3 long texts when i mentioned it (food envy in stereo now).

I may take a look when i'm next dragged to the giant rat maze that is Ikea. It will be a calculated risk, though, as it will mean missing out on my 'meat balls' which, the thought of, stops me from committing hara-kiri with a staff members pen when i realise it's been 2 hrs and we're only half way round the f'ing store :/.

Beady - updates! :p

Was about to post to you when I saw this :D

I haven't had chance to test any other games out yet... did I tell you I'm slightly addicted to Battlegrounds? You should definitely get it answering your previous post, some of the most tense game play you can have when you get pretty far in to a round.

In terms of performance it's been great, a big improvement on my i5 for sure. Close to zero stuttering and I must have played over 10 hours since I got my new PC. I have installed Ghost Recon: Wildlands, will be giving that a go tomorrow as well as Arma and Rust just to see if there is any improvement. If there isn't we can just put it down to the games as I have completely changed my whole rig now.

But yeah, loving Ryzen so far!

Great stuff.

Glad to read that the memory didn't cause a boot issue this morning - but keep an eye out and let me know if you do experience any cold boot hiccups, in the future, as it could be due to the memory frequency and may need a tweak. Didn't tell you yesterday as i just wanted you to enjoy your system - plus it may not experience any problems (especially when we apply the May update when released).

I think i will invest in battlegrounds - it looks a great game to play with mates. I'll try and convince my brother to get a copy.

Just played Ghost Recon: Wildlands for a couple of hours. Put everything on Ultra, Averaged 40-60fps, mostly in the 50-60 range. Is that about what I should be expecting? Felt great, very smooth, looked beautiful! It did have the odd stutter but there was maybe 3 or 4 in over 2 hours so I can't complain, I find I'm concentrating way to much on FPS and stutter now rather than actually enjoying the game - need to stop that. I did have GTA 5 downloading at the same time. But yeah I'm loving it so far. Will test GTA out after.
