Hello guys..

I was wondering if anyone could give me some ideas on a build for future proofing and to be able to get decent FPS in games like Arma 3.

My current rig:

AMD FX6300 (OC 4.5Ghz)
8GB DDR3 1600Mhz Corsair Vengance
HD7790 Gpu

My FPS is shocking when playing Arma 3 online i hit around 21-27FPS and its just not playable, after looking online for many months and playing around with settings there is just no difference. I hear AMD is poor for this game so there for i am upgrading to something a lot better in hope i get decent FPS. I also want something that is going to last me the next few years with newer technology coming out. I also do a lot of webdesigning using Photoshop and Dreamweaver.

Would a new GPU do the trick or would a complete new change be better?

This is what i have been looking at for around £400-500

MSI GeForce GTX 760 OC Gaming Edition 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £175.99

Coolermaster evo 212
Memory
Windows 7

Many thanks in advanced

Thank you for your response.. I have checked out that graph and although that card is now on my wish list for next week i have also looked at what the benchmark was tested on and they used

Intel Core i7-4960X (Ivy Bridge-E) 3.6 GHz Base Clock Rate, Overclocked to 4.3 GHz, LGA 2011, 15 MB Shared L3, Hyper-Threading enabled, Power-savings enabled.

On an AMD FX6300 i dont think i would hit that mark even clocked at 4.5ghz.

From what i have read, the game requires strong CPU core per core. Single player im fine, hitting around 40-50FPS on High settings its just online, i am constantly hitting low FPS with every setting possible, Low, medium, high =same 21-27 FPS ultra = 10-15FPS

I will try this card out and see if there is any increase before buying a new set up which will save me some ££££

Also would there be any bottleneck from my CPU?

Thank you for your help

You're quite right about the need for good single-core performance, and that a 4670k would trounce your 6300 in that respect - my point was more that, according to the graph, your GPU achieved similar FPS with their fancy CPU as it did with yours. Obviously your CPU's weaker per-core performance will hit FPS a bit, but adding a 280X might be enough that you can avoid spending almost £300 on a new CPU/motherboard. Which would be nice.

FYI: the MSI 280X is on offer until next Wednesday morning.

Ahh i see. Thank you again, Im going to order it now while the price is at its low. Thank you for your help Fulax i will post back once the card has arrived and i have tested it..

Again thank you

Regards
