My xp2500 system is getting a bit to old now for the latest gaming so wondering what your thoughts are on this spec which should play all the latest and fourth coming games with ease?

CPU: Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz (Nehalem)
MOBO: Asus P6T6 WS Revolution Intel X58
PSU: Corsair TX 750W ATX SLI Compliant Power Supply
MEM: Kingston HyperX 6GB (3x2GB)
HARD DRIVE: Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache
GRAPHICS CARD: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 295 1792MB GDDR3

I have around 1500 to spend on the base unit, i have moniter etc, what do you guys think of this spec?

Aye, two 4890s in crossfire beats the gtx 295 most of the time and by a fair chunk at high res, here is a review.

I know the ASUS 4890 has the voltage tweak technology which can make it a bit faster, but this XFX card is quite a bit cheaper. You can always overclock the cards manually if you need the extra performance.

This is a beast of a system. Two 30GB vertexes for RAID0 (which would give you very snappy performance in windows), two 4870X2's (essentially four 4870's, which are only slightly behind 4890's in performance), i7 and a Noctua NH-U12P.

If you're willing to spend a bit more than Kenny's spec, I'd recommend this. Most of it's overkill, but you will see a good improvement with SSD's. If you don't feel the need for 2 4870X2's, just get two 4890's (the £170 ones), to save about £160.

I notice the OCZ gold 6gb is only £76 while the Kingston HyperX 6GB (3x2GB) is almost 100 more, is the Kingston ram worth the extra 100? Anway As i not played any new games in years I think I will go for the following spec and then in time I can upgrade bits here and their if I feel the need.

CPU: Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz (Nehalem) (Socket LGA1366) - OEM
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U12P SE1366 CPU Cooler (Socket LGA1366)
GRAPHICS: XFX ATI Radeon HD 4890 1024MB X2
MOBO: Asus P6T Intel X58 (Socket 1366)
Graphics: OCZ Gold 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3
PSU: Corsair TX 750W ATX SLI Compliant Power Supply
Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache

Price comes in at 1059. £500 under Budget

The P6T also supports SLI so why not just buy the 295 and then if you feel you need more power add a second, that would surely blow the crossfire set-up away...
